Intracoronary Hypothermia

In the final month of last year, a scientific paper was published on the cardioprotective effects of intracoronary cooling following reperfusion of an acute coronary obstruction. In short, LifeTec Group's PhysioHeart platform was used to create an acute coronary stenosis for 1 hour, and catheters were used to infuse saline at room temperature directly into the coronary downstream the stenosis to locally cool the heart tissue. Tissue samples were taken from the ex-vivo beating hearts and analysed for acute tissue responses for the cooled tissue regions as well as a control group.

Please see our article page for more background on the study as well as a link to the paper!
